Pilgrim's Rest

 

Day 1 and Day 2


En route to Pilgrim's Rest on the famous Panorama Road just a few miles from the Blyde River Canyon. Pilgrim's Rest is a real trip back in time. This former small valley was transformed into a real village in 1873 during a gold rush, in less than 6 months! In this "museum" village, you will be plunged into the heart of the life of the gold diggers...

One night in a luxury lodge

You will stay during this two-day stopover at the Royal Hotel where the rooms have Victorian decoration, parquet floors and a private bathroom with bath.

Blyde River Canyon

 

Day 3


After breakfast, you will set off to explore the Blyde River Canyon. The spectacular Blyde River Canyon is the third largest canyon in the world and is one of South Africa's most spectacular landscapes. Many hikes are possible in this area: The Leopard Trail, the Kadishi Tufa Trail, the Guinea Fowl trail... to each his own hiking trail depending on the duration and his physical fitness.

Kruger Park

 

Day 4


This morning's programme includes sunrise and the first bushwalk or walking safari! Accompanied by armed rangers, you will go for a 2h30 walk in the park. After your breakfast served on the restaurant's terrace, a safari in an open 4×4 accompanied by rangers will await you. After breakfast, an open 4x4 safari with rangers awaits you, where you will meet the Big Five. Lunch will be taken at one of the camps in the reserve.

Your night in the heart of the Kruger

Olifants Main Camp is beautifully situated on a hill overlooking the Olifants River in the Kruger National Park and offers panoramic views of the bushveld.

Swaziland

 

Day 5


You will then drive into the Kingdom of Swaziland (eSwatini now) to Hlane Park.Hlane Royal National Park is home to the largest herds in the Swazi Kingdom: lions, elephants, white rhinos, giraffes and a host of other species in 22,000 hectares of bushland. Hlane is also blessed with an abundance of birds and includes the highest density of vultures in Africa. At 3pm you will depart on a walking safari. Accompanied by your ranger guides.

A night in the wild

Depending on the heat, camp set up will take place before or after the bush walk.

Saint Lucia

 

Day 6 and Day 7


On your sixth day of travel, after a hearty breakfast at Hlane Camp, you will head to the Elephant Coast and the small town of St Lucia. Situated in the heart of Kwazulu Natal, St Lucia and Isimangaliso Wetland Park are the jewels of the Zulu kingdom. The next day we will take you on a cruise to see the hippos and crocodiles that live in this incredible ecosystem. Two hours of magic on board the boat.

A night near the ocean

You will set up camp in a small corner of paradise between the ocean, the lagoon and the village of St Lucia. From the camp, you will have access to the beaches as well as to the walks allowing you to approach the hippos and crocodiles.

Midmar Dukuduku

 

Day 8


After breakfast at the camp, you will drive to the southern Drakensberg and its mountains. A free lunch will be offered in Durban in a typical market between spice shops, traditional restaurants and Zulu art.

Sleeping by the lake

We will suggest a final bivouac along the Midmar Lake where you will arrive in the early afternoon.

North Drakensberg and Thendele

 

Day 8 to Day 10


You will continue on to the beautiful Northern Drakensberg Mountains. These are the 'Dragon Mountains', the Drakensberg of the Afrikaners. The features of Lesotho can be seen behind the amphitheatre, the views are breathtaking and the hikes are pure pleasure. After a good night's sleep, we set off on a challenging day hike. Your guide knows the area like the back of his hand and will be able to adapt to your needs. If you wish, you can make a detour to the village to meet the local population.

Two nights in the Drakensberg

Arrival at the camp in the middle of the afternoon, installation next to the lake, possible hikes around the lake and preparation of the barbecue version "spicy" on an Indian note.

Lesotho

 

Day 11 to Day 15


You will leave the Drakensberg Mountains and cross the border into Lesotho for a two day mountain trek. Local guides will accompany you and horses will carry your equipment. As a reminder, Lesotho is the only country in the world whose entire territory is above 1400m. There is a 7 hour walk to the village where you will spend the night in a local's home. This is authentic Africa.

Your nights under the stars

From the Masaru border post, some 40 km of track will follow to lead you to the heart of the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Maléaléa Lodge, which will set you up and offer you dinner in their restaurant. Rest and stargazing.
